Eintracht Frankfurt 3-2 Hamburg

An entertaining game in Frankfurt sees Eintracht move joint-top of the Bundesliga with a 3-2 win over Hamburg.

Eintracht Frankurt have beaten Hamburg 3-2 to move level on points with Bayern Munich at the top of the Bundesliga.

The home team started well, creating several opportunities in the first ten minutes with Takashi Inui and Anderson missing the target.

It was not long before they took the lead though. Alexander Meier found Inui on the left-hand side of the penalty area, and the Japanese midfielder cut inside and found the bottom corner to put the hosts one up.

They doubled their lead five minutes later when Olivier Occean was able to tap in after Hamburg failed to clear their lines from a corner.

Frankfurt were guilty of the same crime themselves on the stroke of half-time as Heiko Westermann profited with a close-range goal to make it 2-1.

There was more drama to come in first half injury-time. No sooner had they got themselves back into the game than Hamburg were down to ten men, when Petr Jiracek was sent off for a bad challenge on Anderson.

After the break it did not take long for Frankfurt to take advantage of the extra man. On 52 minutes Stefan Aigner made it 3-1 after good play from Meier.

Meier himself had a good chance to extend the lead five minutes later but he shot wide from a good position.

It was the ten men of Hamburg who managed to score the next goal. Heung-Min Son found space in the box and was able to shoot past Kevin Trapp with 25 minutes to go.

The home team dominated possession after that without creating any clear chances, before a late rally from Hamburg nearly earned them a draw.

Substitute Dennis Diekmeier was thwarted by a good save from Trapp, before Westermann missed the chance to get his second goal.

A late counter-attack from Frankfurt allowed Inui space on the left, but the winger could not add to his tally as he shot wide.
