Eintracht Frankfurt go fourth with Werder Bremen win

Goals from Alexander Meier, Pirmin Schwegler, Stefan Aigner and Takashi Inui see Eintracht Frankfurt defeat Werder Bremen 4-1 at home and go fourth in the Bundesliga.

Eintracht Frankfurt have climbed up to fourth in the Bundesliga table with a 4-1 victory over Werder Bremen at home.

After a goalless first half, the match burst into life in the early minutes of the second half when the home side went ahead.

Bastian Oczipka put in an inviting cross that Alexander Meier headed home from close range to put Eintracht 1-0 up.

Seven minutes later Bremen restored parity when Nils Petersen headed in Marko Arnautovic's cross from the centre of the hosts' penalty box.

However, Eintracht regained their advantage in the 62nd minute, Pirmin Schwegler firing in from outside the box past Sebastian Mielitz into the bottom-left corner.

A minute later the hosts scored their third goal of the evening, as Stefan Aigner turned in Olivier Occean's cross from the centre of the Werder area.

Takashi Inui added the cherry on the cake in the final minute of normal time for Eintracht when he latched on to Sebastian Jung's through-ball to fire in his side's fourth goal.
