Phil Jagielka believes that his former Everton partnership with Joleon Lescott could prove to be an advantage for injury-hit England.

Everton and England defender Phil Jagielka believes that he can hold a strong partnership with Joleon Lescott at Euro 2012.

The Three Lions have been thrown into an injury crisis after centre-back Gary Cahill became the third player to drop out of the squad through injury.

While Chelsea skipper John Terry is likely to start at the back for Roy Hodgson, Jagielka believes that he along with former club teammate Lescott could be strong for the national side.

"It's familiarity really," said Jagielka. "We've played together a lot, we know each other and we get on well off the pitch.

"When you play together it does feel comfortable. We had some good seasons at Everton. Joleon moved on and has done well for himself."

Blues midfielder Frank Lampard and Norwich City goalkeeper John Ruddy have already bowed out of the squad with injuries.
