Yunus Lunat: 'Jack Wilshere's view is unclear and uncomfortable'

Chairman of the Football Association's race equality advisory group Yunus Lunat thinks that Jack Wilshere needs to clarify his views regarding England eligibility.

Chairman of the Football Association's race equality advisory group Yunus Lunat believes that Arsenal and England midfielder Jack Wilshere needs to clarify his view regarding international eligibility.

The 21-year-old sparked a debate by claiming earlier this week that only English players should represent the Three Lions following the news that Adnan Januzaj is eligible to play for England under FIFA residency rules.

Wilshere later tried to clarify his comments by saying that players do not have to be born in England, but they should not be eligible if they moved to the country as an adult.

"Wilshere is entitled to his opinion but needs to be clear in his definition of 'English' players," Lunat told BBC Sport. "He should be given an opportunity to come back and explain what he meant. He has opened up that can of worms.

"He seems to be saying that a lot of these players are not capable, both from a competency point of view and through qualifications, of playing for England. At the moment, it is very unclear and I find it uncomfortable."

Meanwhile, Wilshere is expected to be dropped from England's starting lineup against Montenegro at Wembley tonight.
