England's Frank Lampard wary of Ukraine

Frank Lampard admits that the England players are wary of the threat Ukraine pose in Tuesday's World Cup qualifier.

Frank Lampard has admitted that the England players are wary of Ukraine, who may be seeking revenge for their Euro 2012 defeat.

England beat the tournament co-hosts 1-0 last June, although Ukraine were aggrieved to be denied an equaliser when Marko Devic's shot appeared to cross the line.

Lampard, who will earn his 100th cap against Ukraine, insists that it is not really a factor as they are two different games, but still warns the side that they must be on their game and ready to get a positive result.

"They're two separate games, I watched that game from home and it was a tough game," Lampard told reporters at the press conference. "It maybe means a bit for them to get revenge but we just have to be on our game on the night.

"We've got to go out on Tuesday and get a result. It's in our own hands with two home games to come after that.

"A win would put us in a very strong position. We've got two tough home games to come, but I think if we can fly back with three points then we're in a very strong position to go through."

England lead their World Cup qualifying group, with Montenegro second on goal difference, Ukraine just one point behind and Poland still in touch.
