Leighton Baines doubtful for Stoke City clash

A thigh injury is likely to rule Leighton Baines out of Everton's away match at Stoke City.

Everton are likely to be without Leighton Baines for tomorrow evening's trip to Stoke City.

The left-back missed Sunday's 2-0 defeat away at Arsenal because of a thigh injury.

It was thought that he would recover in time to feature at the Britannia Stadium, but manager Roberto Martinez has admitted that the encounter has probably come too soon.

"I don't know if he is going to be available for Wednesday. I doubt [he will], but we hope that he will be okay for the Dynamo Kyiv game [on March 12]," Martinez told the club's official website.

In Baines's absence, youngster Luke Garbutt is expected to deputise.
