Sylvain Distin calls for rousing end to season

Sylvain Distin rallies his Everton teammates to finish their Premier League campaign on a high.

Sylvain Distin has rallied his Everton teammates to finish their Premier League campaign on a high and improve on their best ever points total.

The Toffees' 3-2 defeat to Manchester City last weekend ended their faint hopes of qualifying for the Champions League for at least another season.

Roberto Martinez has guided the Merseysiders to a fifth-placed finish in the standings by registering the club's highest points tally in the Premier League era but, with just one game remaining, Distin insists that nobody is thinking about their summer holidays just yet.

"It's not about where we're going to finish now, it's about setting records," the Frenchman told Everton's official website.

"That's what we've done with the points we've got in the Premier League and we can make that better by getting three more points.

"It's the same as if we were playing at the beginning of the season - it's another game we want to win. I can guarantee, if you'd been at the training ground this week, the focus is still there. We're not on holiday yet."

Everton conclude their 2013-14 season with a visit to the KC Stadium to face Hull City on Sunday.
