New Everton manager Frank Lampard has given his assessment of Dele Alli and Donny van de Beek's debuts for the club against Newcastle United.

Everton manager Frank Lampard has reflected on the debuts of both Dele Alli and Donny van de Beek.

The new January signings both featured in the recent 3-1 defeat against Newcastle United, with each of them making their first appearances for the Toffees off the bench.

"Donny came on in a difficult time of the game, let us be honest, and made us tick a bit. He is only going to get better and I knew that with Donny," Lampard told the press.

"Him not starting tonight was more of a reflection of the performance on Saturday, but he will be integral for us through this season o get us to where we want to be in terms of performance and result.

"With Dele, again there were some nice bits, but we're asking a lot to expect him to hit the ground running. There are some moments, little penetrating runs where he nearly gets in and some of his link-up play."

The two men could feature again on Saturday when they host Leeds United in the Premier League.
