Roberto Martinez disappointed by Everton's season so far

Everton boss Roberto Martinez admits his frustration with his side's campaign so far as they sit 12th in the Premier League.

Everton boss Roberto Martinez has revealed his disappointment in his side's overall displays this season and said that he can understand fan frustration.

The Blues finished fifth last season, but have endured a largely stop-start campaign this time around, and a poor run of form over the past couple of months sees the Toffees currently sitting in 12th in the Premier League.

Martinez told talkSPORT: "We worked really hard in the summer to maintain good things we had in the season before because the form that we showed was phenomenal.

"It has been disappointing that we haven't been able to create momentum. Small margins have affected our results and that has affected having that little bit of momentum you always need in league competitions.

"It has been frustrating for fans and the expectations we have put on ourselves haven't been able to be reflected in the scorelines. The margins have been small and there have been reasons for that."

Martinez's side travel to league leaders Chelsea on Wednesday.
