Roberto Martinez hails "unique" Romelu Lukaku

Everton boss Roberto Martinez praises the unique attributes of striker Romelu Lukaku after notching his 50th goal for the Toffees in just his 100th appearance.

Everton boss Roberto Martinez has hailed Romelu Lukaku's "unique" ability after the Belgian rescued a point for his team against Crystal Palace.

The 22-year-old scored his 50th goal for the club in just his 100th appearance when he found the back of the net to earn his side a share of the spoils at Goodison Park after previously being denied by the post and the bar.

Martinez has praised the quality of his striker, who he feels has all the attributes needed to thrive at the top level.

He told Sky Sports News: "He deserves a lot of praise because he is a very reliable footballer. He arrived at the club at a very young age but is someone who has been developing month after month and now he has got a real enjoyment but also a real responsibility with everything else apart from scoring goals.

"He is such a unique No 9. Normally No.9s master one aspect - they can hold the ball up, they are strong or they have got pace, they are finishers - but I think Rom can be everything and I think that is a phenomenal attribute for our team.

"I think you're looking at his moment, it is a very good one. In front of goal, he is lethal; he could have scored a hat-trick today."

Lukaku has scored 13 goals in 18 appearances for the Toffees this season.
