Morgan Schneiderlin: 'Everton must find belief'

Midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin says that the Everton first-team squad must find some confidence in order to move clear of the Premier League relegation zone.

Everton midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin has admitted that he and his teammates must "start playing better" in order to get the club's supporters back on side.

Heavy defeats to both Atalanta BC and Southampton in the space of three days have left the Toffees in disarray both on and off the pitch, with David Unsworth now seven games into an interim spell as manager.

Everton face an important clash with West Ham United in the Premier League on Wednesday night, and Schneiderlin has acknowledged that the squad must address their problems ahead of the fixture at Goodison Park.

The 28-year-old told the club's official website: "We must stick together and fight, but also be more confident. Everyone needs to be confident in his ability and everyone has to know that getting out of this comes through confidence in ourselves and the players around us.

"We care about this football club, we care about the teammates next to us and we just want to have the fans on our side and confident [in us].

"But it is easy to speak, the main thing is to address that in the next two days, to address the wrong things we are doing and start playing better."

Everton currently sit just two points above the relegation zone in the top-flight standings.
