Queens Park Rangers striker Tommy Smith scored the only goal of the game as the Hoops beat Everton 1-0 at Goodison Park.

The home side made a strong start, before a mistake from Phil Jagielka cost his side as Smith curled the ball into Tim Howard's bottom corner after half an hour.

Everton created a number of chances in the second-half, including an open-goal opportunity for Tim Cahill, but were unable to hit the back of the net.

The loss marks the Toffees' first home league defeat of 2011, while it is QPR's first Premier League win since 1996.
