Swansea City, Everton share point after goalless draw

Swansea City and Everton play out a goalless 90 minutes in the Premier League this afternoon, as Romelu Lukaku and Bafetimbi Gomis both miss good opportunities to score.

The game's first chance fell to Romelu Lukaku, whose drilled free kick from the edge of the box was dealt with by the Swansea defence, before Phil Jagielka headed over the bar from a Ross Barkley corner.

Bafetimbi Gomis produced an acrobatic effort soon after, but Everton keeper Tim Howard was equal to the challenge, before the French striker picked up on a slack back pass by Gareth Barry, but his effort went wide.

Everton missed three opportunities to score before half time, as Steven Naismith tested Swans keeper Lukasz Fabianski, before Arouna Kone and Barkley saw efforts fly over the bar.

After the break Brendan Galloway fired a shot wide for the visitors, before Lukaku had a great chance to open the scoring, but the Belgian's effort flew over the bar.

Gylfi Sigurdsson almost found the opener for Swansea on 57 minutes, but his free kick hit the side-netting, before Jefferson Montero forced Howard into a decent save.

Naismith could have found a winner before the final whistle, but his effort went wide after Gerard Deulofeu had done well to pick the Scottish forward out from the wing, before Ki Sung-Yeung blazed a shot over the bar with seconds remaining.

Everton also finished the game with 10 men after Kevin Mirallas was dismissed for a late challenge moments after coming on as a substitute.
