France have qualified for the latter stages of the Olympics after recording a 1-0 victory over Group G rivals Colombia.
France made a thumping start to the match and should have been ahead inside three minutes when Gaetane Thiney went through on goal, but she fired wide.
The opening goal came just moments later, however, when Elodie Thomis coolly stotted past Sandra Sepulveda to send France ahead.
Colombia's best chance of the opening period came after 12 minutes when Orianica Velasquez advanced on goal, but she fired wide. Meanwhile, it was so nearly two for France moments later, but Louisa Necib struck the post from close range.
Velasquez again came close for Colombia after 25 minutes, but her strike was pushed to safety by Sarah Bouhaddi, while Thomis struck the crossbar for France moments later.
France continued to dominate in the latter stages of the half, and they should have been two, and then three ahead, but Thomis missed while one-on-one before striking the bar once more.
The French started the second period on the attack, and Necib brought another fine save from Sepulveda after 50 minutes.
Colombia improved as the second half developed, however, and Yulieht Dominguez struck wide just before the hour mark.
The South American side just could not find the equaliser, with Marie-Laure Delie always threatening to extend France's lead.
