Nahki Wells: 'Huddersfield Town players owe fans after slow start'

Nahki Wells concedes that Huddersfield Town have 'fallen short' so far this season, and admits that his side must quickly up their game if they are to bounce back.

Huddersfield Town forward Nahki Wells has confessed that he and his teammates 'owe supporters' an improved performance this weekend.

The Terriers have suffered a disappointing start to their campaign, having lost back-to-back games in league and cup.

An underwhelming display against Notts County last time out, in which Town let a one-goal lead slip to exit the competition, is something that Wells believes needs to be pushed aside for the visit of Blackburn Rovers.

"Each competition is just as important as the next," he told the club's official website. "The simple fact is we fell up short on the night, myself included. We can't point any fingers at the management staff because they have done everything they can.

"We've gone over how we want to play and what needs to be done, but we are the ones who go onto the pitch to represent the club. We have to hold our hands up and improve quickly. Without a doubt, it is important we get our season going now.

"We fell short on Tuesday night and now we owe the fans a performance, as well as the club as a whole. I've been on the other side of cup upsets and I know that any team can beat another if they are not 100% at it. We need to go out and get off the mark so we can start looking up the table."

Wells scored four goals for Huddersfield during pre-season, but has yet to find the net in his two competitive outings to date this term.
