Michael Dawson header earns Hull City draw against Queens Park Rangers

Michael Dawson scores to earn Hull City a 1-1 draw at home to Queens Park Rangers.

Hull City remain in the playoff places after they came from behind to draw with Queens Park Rangers at the KC Stadium.

Charlie Austin had given the Hoops the lead, but a Michael Dawson header before half time proved enough for the Tigers to take a point.

Hull, who won 2-0 at Cardiff City in midweek, nearly took the lead in the opening minutes after Sone Aluko fired an effort straight at Robert Green.

City continued to press and threatened again when Abel Hernandez teed up Tom Huddlestone, but his shot flew over the crossbar.

Mohamed Diame then had his strike saved by Green as the hosts failed to convert their initial dominance into a goal.

They were punished for their misses on 26 minutes when Austin's header went in off the underside of the bar to give Rangers the lead.

However, their advantage lasted only 12 minutes as Huddlestone crossed for Dawson, whose header finally breached the defences of Green.

QPR nearly retook the lead just after the hour mark as Tjarron Chery fired over from close range.

Andrew Robertson had two chances to snatch victory for Hull in the dying minutes, but missed the target with both efforts as they settled for a share of the spoils.
