An early Mohamed Diame goal has given Hull City a 1-0 half-time lead at Cardiff City this evening.
Hull made a quick start to the match, and Abel Hernandez came close to opening the scoring for the visitors with a blocked shot on eight minutes, only for the rebound to fall to Diame who finished from close range to give the visitors the lead.
Cardiff responded well as Sean Morrison met a Peter Whittingham corner, but his header went just wide of the Hull goal.
The visitors almost added to their lead through Sone Aluko, but his long-range effort looped over the bar, before Kenwyne Jones forced a good save from Allan McGregor at the other end of the pitch.
Sam Clucas tested David Marshall with a volley, but the Cardiff keeper dealt with the effort well, before Bluebirds defender Morrison headed over from a Whittingham corner.
Whittingham came close to finding an equaliser for Cardiff before the break, but his 25-yard effort was held by McGregor.
