Inter Milan president Massimo Moratti says that Wesley Sneijder is vital for the club's future.

Inter Milan president Massimo Moratti has insisted that midfielder Wesley Sneijder will remain in Italy this summer.

The Dutch international was strongly linked with a switch to Manchester United last year but after the playmaker confirmed that he would stay with the Serie A side for the rest of the season, the Red Devils cooled their interest in the 27-year-old.

While reports had suggested that the former English champions would re-enter the market for Sneijder this season, Moratti has warned off any attempts to snap up the midfielder.

"We consider him a main player for Inter's future. So there aren't problems," Moratti told an Inter Club Malta radio show.

Sneijder's future at the San Siro could be in doubt following the club's sixth finish in the league.
