Ronaldo believes that his former Real Madrid teammate David Beckham should be included in Great Britain's men's football team for the Olympics.

Former Brazilian international Ronaldo believes that LA Galaxy midfielder David Beckham should be selected as part of Great Britain's men's football squad for the Olympic Games in London later this year.

Coach Stuart Pearce refused to guarantee the former England international a place in his team earlier today.

However, Ronaldo, who was Beckham's teammate at Real Madrid, has insisted that the 36-year-old's ability should make him a certainty to be included.

"David Beckham is a great player and a great friend of mine," said Ronaldo.

"I'm sure he would love to participate in this Olympic dream. It's up to the manager to pick the best team available but if I was the manager I definitely would as he would guarantee quality.

"Beckham is a real calm guy and a team player and despite his status and fame he is actually very humble. Never during my time at Real Madrid did I hear anyone complain about him, and he would help with the younger players."

Ronaldo was speaking to reporters at the draw for the group stages of the Games.
