Leeds United chief executive Shaun Harvey calls on the club's fans to not react to any "vile chants" from rival supporters in the future.

Leeds United chief executive Shaun Harvey has urged supporters to ignore "vile chants" from rival fans and behave in the terraces.

The plea comes in the same week that a Leeds fan was jailed for four months for shoving Sheffield Wednesday goalkeeper Chris Kirkland in the face during the sides' 1-1 draw at the Hillsborough Stadium on Friday.

"We are asking our fans to show their feelings towards any vile chants they may hear by turning their backs in response, rather than react in any other way," BBC Sport quotes Harvey as saying. "We are hoping that by our fans taking this action we can go some way to cleaning up this behaviour and send out a message."

Leeds also issued a lifetime ban from Elland Road for 21-year-old jailed supporter Aaron Cawley.
