Championship quartet target deal for Middlesbrough midfielder Adam Clayton?

Four clubs in the Championship reportedly show an interest in signing Middlesbrough midfielder Adam Clayton during the January transfer window.

Middlesbrough midfielder Adam Clayton has reportedly emerged as a transfer target for four clubs in the Championship.

Clayton has started each of Tony Pulis's first three games at the club on the bench, and the Welshman is said to be considering whether to cash in on the 28-year-old.

According to the Northern Echo, Nottingham Forest, Aston Villa, Leeds United and Cardiff City have all identified Clayton as a potential signing before the end of January.

Forest, in particular, could be regarded as an attractive option to Clayton with former boss Aitor Karanka having just arrived at the City Ground.

Clayton has spent the last three-and-a-half seasons in the North-East, with 151 appearances being made in all competitions during that time.

The player still has that period remaining on his existing deal at Boro, leaving the club in a strong position over a transfer fee.
