Brendan Rodgers: 'Liverpool squad is good enough for Champions League football'

Brendan Rodgers says that Liverpool's squad is "Champions League level" and feels that the club "belongs" in the competition.

Brendan Rodgers believes that his current Liverpool squad is capable of competing in the Champions League.

The Reds have not played in Europe's leading competition for five years, but Rodgers insists that the players he has at Anfield are ready to end that run by finishing in the top four of the Premier League this season.

"I would have confidence in saying that this Liverpool team is Champions League level. Our performances and results have shown that," the Liverpool manager told The Express.

"The club belongs in the Champions League. It is a competition that this club has a wonderful history in. It's a level that we want to get back to.

"Over the next 12 games, we will be prepared and ready to go and get maximum points. We know that is going to be tough, but we have real confidence in our game and our play."

Liverpool are fourth in the league, just four points behind leaders Chelsea.
