Liverpool are facing a tough group stage in the Europa League as they are expected to drop into pot two due to their low UEFA coefficient.
Brendan Rodgers's side are currently ranked 11th in the competition after UEFA calculated their results in Europe over the past five years.
The top 12 are placed into pot one, but with four teams due to secure their group-stage status on Thursday night, Liverpool are expected to fall outside of the higher-ranked teams.
This means that the Merseyside outfit could be pitted against the likes of Borussia Dortmund, Napoli, Schalke 04, Basel, Villarreal or Fiorentina.
Last season, Liverpool failed to make it through the group phase in the Champions League and were later knocked out in the last-32 round of the Europa League by Besiktas.
