Joe Allen praises Liverpool growth

Liverpool midfielder Joe Allen insists that the team has "grown massively" as the season has progressed.

Joe Allen has said that Liverpool have "grown massively" during a run of seven wins in their last eight outings in the Premier League.

Brendan Rodgers's side travel to his old club Swansea City tomorrow night ahead of a clash with Manchester United, who were the last team to beat them in the league back in December.

The midfielder, who joined Liverpool from Swansea when Rodgers moved to Anfield in 2012, told the club's website: "People forget sometimes that we're a pretty young team and squad. The beauty of that is that we will get better. We've shown that as the season has gone on.

"We've grown massively and I think you can see the change in formation. We've taken to that really well and quickly, which is important.

"We always knew there'd be a little bit of a rocky patch, but we didn't expect it to go on so long. We put expectation on ourselves because we think we're good enough to go on runs like this. With the players we've got, and the confidence we're playing with, I think it's a case of long may it continue."

Liverpool currently sit fifth in the table, just two points outside the Champions League places.
