Jamie Carragher: 'Suarez was the best I played with'

Legendary Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher rates Luis Suarez as the best striker he played with during his 16-year career.

Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher has hailed Luis Suarez as the best striker he played with during his 16-year career.

Carragher represented the Reds 737 times before retiring in May, and the Reds legend said that he rates the Uruguayan as the finest of all the forwards he played alongside.

"Let's start with Suarez, I played with some brilliant strikers for club and country, but none was better than Luis," Carragher told the Daily Mail.

"He has done things I've never seen before, like a 50-yard lob at Norwich, the 'chest control' goal versus Newcastle United and the bamboozling of Manchester United's defence in March 2011.

"The Premier League has the best strikers in the world. Whether it's Spain, Germany, France or Italy, none of those leagues can hold a candle to England's strength in depth. Spearheaded by Sergio Aguero and Luis Suarez, we are witnessing vintage forward play."

Suarez scored twice in Liverpool's 4-0 win against Fulham on Saturday, and has eight goals in six games for the Reds this season.
