Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp pleased with no Christmas Eve fixture

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp admits that he is pleased with Sky Sports' decision to not force the club to face Arsenal in North London on Christmas Eve.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has claimed that Sky Sports has made a "very good decision" to not reschedule the club's trip to Arsenal for Christmas Eve.

In recent weeks, reports have suggested that the broadcaster intended on showing the fixture at the Emirates Stadium on Christmas Eve with a 4pm kickoff.

However, on Thursday, Sky announced that Liverpool would instead play Arsenal on the night of Friday, December 22, and Klopp has revealed that the Merseyside giants intend to help supporters travel back from the game.

The 50-year-old told reporters: "I don't know when it happened last time that somebody could take something but didn't, because of common sense. Sky thank you! It's a very, very good decision especially for fans.

"We will do everything we can as a club to help the fans get back from London."

The decision also means that the 1995 fixture between Leeds United and Manchester United will remain as the last top-flight match to be televised on Christmas Eve.
