Jurgen Klopp: 'Roma will not show sentimentality when facing Mohamed Salah'

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp insists that Roma will show no signs of sentimentality when they come up against former forward Mohamed Salah in the Champions League.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has insisted that Mohamed Salah will soon learn that Roma's players are not his teammates anymore when the clubs meet in the Champions League this week.

Record-breaking Salah will face his former side Roma in the semi-finals on Tuesday night, and Klopp has reiterated that the Italians will show no sentimentality when they come to defend against the in-form Egyptian.

"It is normal in football for players and managers to change clubs and play against their old colleagues. I had it against Borussia Dortmund two years ago," Klopp told reporters ahead of the clash.

"It's a normal game but it feels quite special because you are more interested in the other team than you usually are. He became the player he is today thanks to Roma and credit must go to their players and staff for his development.

"Italian defenders are famous for not having friendly games so I think Mo will know pretty soon that they are not his teammates anymore and then he can strike back in football terms."

Salah has scored 41 goals in all competitions this term and is vying to beat Ian Rush's Liverpool record of 47 in a season.
