Adam Lallana: 'No-one here will replace Steven Gerrard'

Adam Lallana says that he and his Liverpool teammates need to step it up a notch next season to cope with the absence of Steven Gerrard.

Adam Lallana has stressed that he and his Liverpool teammates must work harder next season to minimise the effects of losing captain Steven Gerrard in the summer.

The midfielder, 34, will call time on his legendary spell at Anfield in the coming weeks as he prepares to join MLS side Los Angeles Galaxy.

Gerrard reminded the Reds what they will miss by scoring in Sunday's 1-1 draw at champions Chelsea, and Lallana admits that next season Liverpool will have to raise their game to compensate for his absence.

"I feel we're all going to have to give an extra percentage [to fill the gap left by Gerrard]," he told the club's official website.

"We all need to dig in and work hard because he is irreplaceable, really. I feel the best way to replace him is not just through one certain individual; it's going to be a combination of every single player.

"He's proved [against Chelsea] and last week [against QPR], coming up with a goal, what a man he is and what a player he is for this club."

Gerrard won two FA Cups, one UEFA Cup and a Champions League title during his spell on Merseyside.
