Winger Sadio Mane has admitted that Liverpool are looking to achieve "something special" despite insisting that they will take their season "game by game".
Liverpool have arguably established themselves as the strongest challengers to Manchester City in the Premier League, while the Merseyside giants also reached the final of last season's Champions League.
This campaign has started with three successive victories and clean sheets in the league, but Mane has suggested that he hopes that expectations do not instantly rise among the club's fanbase.
The Senegal international told Marca: "It is a great challenge, and it is true that we have won trophies, but not the Premier League. It's part of this game and we have to fix it this year.
"That is why we have signed great players and it is a great challenge to attempt to storm the Premier League. Liverpool are a great club. We want to do something special, but without excessive pressure.
"Now everyone is talking about us, but we have to be calm and take it game by game. Let's not talk about trophies now, it's early. This has just begun."
Mane has scored three goals in as many games this season.
