Pat Nevin: 'Daniel Sturridge return will transform Liverpool'

Ex-Chelsea winger Pat Nevin backs Daniel Sturridge to transform Liverpool's fortunes upon his return from injury.

Former Chelsea star Pat Nevin has expressed his belief that the return of Daniel Sturridge will make Liverpool a much better side.

The England international has been out for over a month with a thigh injury he picked up on international duty, and the Reds have struggled in his absence, losing two and drawing one of their last four league games.

Sturridge is expected to be back in contention when Brendan Rodgers's side travel to Queens Park Rangers after the international break, and Nevin thinks that his comeback will solve a lot of Liverpool's problems.

"A lot of the problems will go away when Sturridge comes back. I suspect that he will be back for the next league game," he told Newstalk.

"You begin to open up again, you give Sterling more freedom because Sturridge runs beyond more than Mario Balotelli does.

"The whole dynamic will look a lot better as soon as Sturridge is back. As long as he comes back in good form."

Sturridge hit 21 league goals for the Reds last season as they finished second in the Premier League.
