Jamie Redknapp: 'Raheem Sterling won't care about stick from Liverpool fans'

Jamie Redknapp believes that Manchester City star Raheem Sterling "won't care in the slightest" when he receives "stick" from Liverpool fans at the Etihad.

Jamie Redknapp has claimed that Raheem Sterling will not be affected by negative chants that he might receive from Liverpool fans when Manchester City host the Reds on Saturday evening.

Sterling, who angered a number of Liverpool fans when he joined City in the summer for a £49m fee, will face his former club for the first time at the Etihad Stadium this weekend.

Redknapp expects the England international to be booed by the travelling supporters on Saturday, but does not believe that the 20-year-old will give them a second thought.

"Raheem Sterling will get plenty of stick from Liverpool fans on Saturday, but I suspect he won't care in the slightest," Redknapp wrote in his Sky Sports column.

"There's a lot of bad feeling among Liverpool supporters towards him in terms of how he left for Manchester City in the summer, but I don't think he believes he did anything wrong.

"At the end of the day, he's not a Liverpool boy. He was at Queens Park Rangers, left there pretty quickly, and had a great couple of years at Anfield before moving on to Man City. I'm sure, in his mind, he'll feel he doesn't owe Liverpool anything."

Sterling has scored four Premier League goals and one in the Champions League for City so far this season.
