Brendan Rodgers: 'Chelsea parked two buses'

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers claims that Chelsea parked "two buses" in front of their goal during their 2-0 victory at Anfield this afternoon.

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has claimed that Chelsea parked "two buses" in front of their goal during this afternoon's Premier League clash at Anfield.

The Blues ended Liverpool's 11-match winning streak with a 2-0 victory on Merseyside, soaking up large periods of pressure before hitting the hosts on the break at the end of either half.

The usually free-scoring Reds could not break Chelsea's resolute defence down, but Rodgers hinted that he disagreed with Jose Mourinho's negative tactics.

"I think there were two buses parked today, never mind one. They have a different style to us but if it gets results, great. Jose will be happy with that. Congratulations to Chelsea as they won the game, although they came for a draw," Rodgers told reporters.

"It is totally opposite to how we want to play but give credit to them for winning the game. It is not difficult to coach, putting 10 players on the edge of the 18-yard box.

"They got booked for time-wasting in the 92nd minute but I think everyone could see from the first whistle that was their plan - to frustrate."

The result, coupled with Manchester City's 2-0 win over Crystal Palace this afternoon, leaves Liverpool two points clear of Chelsea and three above City, who have a game in hand and superior goal difference.
