Brendan Rodgers: 'Young players can bounce back'

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers is adamant that his side can bounce back from missing out on the Premier League title last season to win the crown in the next campaign.

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers is confident that his young players can bounce back from their disappointing end to last season to win the Premier League title.

The Reds were close to clinching their first top-flight crown in 24 years, but a costly defeat to Chelsea and a draw with Crystal Palace derailed their hopes and allowed Manchester City to secure the title.

However, Rodgers is adamant that his side can get over the hump next season even without Luis Suarez, who joined Barcelona last month.

"We've reinforced the team and the squad and we will go into it with even more belief with a group of young players who are hungry too," Rodgers is quoted as saying by The Mirror.

"We have got players that have had disappointments in their career and picked themselves up again. For me there was no real hangover, I was just so proud of how we as a whole club got together last season.

"The supporters talking about making them dream and there is no negative in it for me. Yes. The Premier league is going to be as competitive as ever, but we've got the belief behind us from the early stages of the season we can win it."

Liverpool face Southampton in their Premier League opener on August 17.
