Liverpool have reportedly stepped up their interest in Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Yves Bissouma.
The acquisition of RB Leipzig defender Ibrahima Konate, who cost £36m, remains Jurgen Klopp's sole incoming this summer.
However, it has been well documented that Liverpool will attempt to sign a replacement for Georginio Wijnaldum once they have made a number of sales.
With that target having now been achieved, The Express claims that the Premier League giants have contacted Brighton regarding Bissouma.
The Seagulls are said to have informed their counterparts at Anfield that it will take £40m to sign the Mali international before the end of the transfer window.
Bissouma, now Brighton's most prized asset after the departure of Ben White, has two years remaining on his existing contract at the Amex Stadium.
