Liverpool are reportedly unlikely to sign an attacking player in this summer's transfer window, unless both Xherdan Shaqiri and Divock Origi depart the club.

Liverpool are reportedly unlikely to sign an attacking player in this summer's transfer window, unless both Xherdan Shaqiri and Divock Origi depart the club.

Shaqiri has been approached by Lyon in recent weeks, with the Swiss international keen to leave Anfield, while Origi is another player who has been linked with a summer exit.

The Reds have made just one signing so far in this window, recruiting defender Ibrahima Konate from RB Leipzig for around £36m.

Jurgen Klopp in looking to bolster his squad further, particularly in attack, however The Athletic reports that Liverpool will only buy a forward if they sell senior first-team members such as Shaqiri and Origi.

As Klopp currently has Takumi Minamino, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Harvey Elliott as back-up options to Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Diogo Jota, the club are not prepared to add another player in this department unless star names are sold.

In addition, Liverpool are believed to be preparing a move for Paris Saint-Germain forward Kylian Mbappe in the summer of 2022, so they are not willing to break the bank on new recruits this summer.

Two more players who the Reds may look to target are West Ham United's Jarrod Bowen and Watford's Ismaila Sarr, who are both valued in excess of £35m.
