Liverpool reportedly outline a move for Atletico Madrid defender Diego Godin in the case that Daniel Agger leaves the club.

Liverpool have reportedly planned to make an approach for Atletico Madrid defender Diego Godin as Daniel Agger edges closer to the Anfield exit door.

The Merseyside club are thought to have targeted the Uruguayan due to Manchester City's pursuit of Agger, who is thought to be open to a move away from Liverpool.

It is understood that the Reds have scouted the 26-year-old over the last few months and Atletico are prepared to listen to offers due to their financial troubles, according to Goal.com.

Recent reports have claimed that Liverpool are willing to sell Agger but they have informed City that they would only accept £23m and winger Adam Johnson on a loan agreement.
