Atletico Madrid striker Luis Suarez tips Borussia Dortmund's Erling Braut Haaland to "define an era" and picks the prolific forward over PSG's Kylian Mbappe.

Atletico Madrid striker Luis Suarez has revealed that he prefers Borussia Dortmund's Erling Braut Haaland over Paris Saint-Germain forward Kylian Mbappe and expects the Norwegian to "define an era".

Haaland and Mbappe have established themselves as two of the most coveted young players in world football in recent years, with 20-year-old Haaland scoring 33 goals and creating eight more in 31 games for Dortmund this season and Mbappe, 22, scoring 30 and assisting nine in 36 outings for PSG.

Suarez netted the 500th club goal of his career during Atletico's La Liga victory over Alaves on Sunday, further enhancing his reputation as one of the most prolific strikers of his generation.

Haaland and Mbappe have been tipped to lead the next generation of players and battle for the Ballon d'Or over the coming years, and Suarez has admitted that he is more in favour of Haaland.

"[Haaland] is a great player, he's at a spectacular level, he has an admirable physical strength," the Uruguayan told RAC 1.

"He's one of the best number nines in the world and will define an era. I'm a bit more in favour of Haaland, but Mbappe is at a great level."

A host of Europe's biggest clubs, including Suarez's former sides Liverpool and Barcelona, have been credited with an interest in signing both players this summer.

In total, Haaland has scored 49 goals in 49 games since joining Dortmund last year, while Mbappe has scored 120 goals and created 59 more in 160 games for PSG.
