Sports Mole takes an in-depth look at how RB Leipzig could line up for Wednesday's Champions League last-16 first-leg clash with Manchester City.

RB Leipzig will be without three injured players when they welcome Manchester City to the Red Bull Arena for the first leg of their Champions League last-16 tie on Wednesday.

First-choice goalkeeper Peter Gulacsi is ruled out for the rest of the season after sustaining an ACL injury in October, with Janis Blaswich set to make his first Champions League knockout appearance between the sticks.

Key playmaker Dani Olmo is ruled out until mid-March with a thigh problem, while Abdou Diallo is closing in on a return from a knee injury, but Wednesday's game will come too soon for the defender.

After admirably donating stem cells in the hope of saving a stranger's life earlier this month, Willi Orban returned to the first XI for Leipzig's 3-0 Bundesliga win away at Wolfsburg last Saturday and the Hungarian is set to keep his place on Wednesday, joining in-demand star Josko Gvardiol at centre-back.

Lukas Klostermann will be hoping to retain his place at right-back ahead of Mohamed Simakan and Benjamin Henrichs, while David Raum is expected to continue at left-back ahead of Marcel Halstenberg.

In midfield, Konrad Laimer could partner Xaver Schlager after recovering from a thigh issue to feature off the substitutes' bench last weekend, with Amadou Haidara the most likely candidate to drop out of the side as a result.

Marco Rose's side were handed a major injury boost against Wolfsburg when top scorer Christopher Nkunku made his first appearance for three months as a second-half substitute after recovering from a knee injury, and the Frenchman will be pushing to return to the first XI on Wednesday.

However, it remains to be seen whether Nkunku will be fit to start after he failed to complete a training session on Tuesday, so Andre Silva could keep his spot as the central striker, with Timo Werner, Emil Forsberg and Dominik Szoboszlai providing support in attack.

RB Leipzig possible starting lineup: Blaswich; Klostermann, Orban, Gvardiol, Raum; Schlager, Laimer; Szoboszlai, Forsberg, Werner; Silva
