Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini has insisted that the 6-1 scoreline his side recorded against ten-man Manchester United this afternoon is not important.
The Italian's side run riot at Old Trafford, opening up a five-point advantage over their rivals in the process.
However, the boss has claimed that the three points are much more important than the score.
"I think that 6-1 is not important," Mancini told Sky Sports News. "It is important that we beat a fantastic team.
"After the sending-off it was easier but we were playing very well.
"The win is important for our confidence."
The defeat is United's biggest in the Premier League.
