Roberto Mancini reveals that Jack Rodwell could miss up to four weeks of action with a hamstring injury picked up in the win over Aston Villa.

Roberto Mancini has revealed that he expects Jack Rodwell to miss "3 to 4 weeks" of Manchester City action with a hamstring strain.

The £15m summer signing from Everton limped off during the first half of City's 1-0 win over Aston Villa on Monday with what Mancini has described as an "old problem".

Rodwell had only recently returned from a three-and-a-half-month layoff and his manager has admitted that "he feels sorry" for the England international after his latest injury setback.

The 21-year-old, who has made just 10 appearances for the Citizens this season, will miss the FA Cup tie with Barnsley and Premier League matches against Everton and Newcastle United.
