Alexis Sanchez record vs. Tottenham Hotspur

Ahead of Alexis Sanchez's potential Premier League debut for Manchester United, Sports Mole looks at his previous record against Tottenham Hotspur.

Manchester United take on top-four rivals Tottenham Hotspur at Wembley on Wednesday night, and all eyes will be on the teamsheets to see whether Alexis Sanchez is handed his Premier League debut for the visitors.

Sanchez makes a swift return to North London having left Tottenham's bitter rivals Arsenal earlier this month, and he is sure to get a hostile reception if he does make his league bow with his new club.

The Chilean made his first appearance in a Manchester United shirt during the 4-0 FA Cup win over Yeovil Town on Friday night, starting the game and lasting until the 72nd minute before being withdrawn.

Here, ahead of his potential league debut, Sports Mole looks at how Sanchez has fared against Spurs with previous clubs.

Alexis Sanchez record vs. Spurs

Sanchez has only once been on the losing side against Spurs, with that defeat coming at White Hart Lane last season when Mauricio Pochettino's side ran out 2-0 winners.

That made it five league North London derbies in a row in which Sanchez had not been on the winning side, but he finally ended that duck earlier this season with a goal to help Arsenal to a 2-0 win at the Emirates Stadium in November.

The 29-year-old's only other goal against Tottenham came at White Hart Lane in the 2015-16 season, rescuing a draw for his side with a 76th-minute equaliser after a quickfire double for Spurs had seen them come from behind to lead.

Sanchez also faced and beat Tottenham once while still a Udinese player in the 2008-09 UEFA Cup group stages, with his other victory over Spurs coming in the 2015-16 EFL Cup third round.
