Manchester United team news: Injury, suspension list vs. Aston Villa

Sports Mole rounds up all of Manchester United's latest injury and suspension news ahead of Friday's Premier League clash with Aston Villa.

Manchester United will be looking to continue their excellent run of form in the Premier League when they welcome Aston Villa to Old Trafford on Friday night.

A late Marcus Rashford strike handed the Red Devils all three points against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Tuesday, making it nine games unbeaten in England's top flight.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side are now second in the table, just two points behind leaders Liverpool, but the 20-time English champions are likely to face a tough examination by high-flying Villa in their first match of 2020.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up all of United's latest injury and suspension news ahead of Friday's clash with Dean Smith's team.

Victor Lindelof

Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Back
Possible return date: January 1 (vs. Villa)

Victor Lindelof has been struggling with a back problem this season, and the injury forced him off the field against Leicester City on Boxing Day. The Swede did not feature against Wolves on Tuesday evening and remains a major doubt for Friday's contest with Villa.

Phil Jones

Status: Out
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: Unknown

Long-term absentee Phil Jones, who continues to be linked with a move away from Old Trafford, is still nursing a knee problem, but he is also currently ineligible to play in the Premier League, having been left out of the squad.

Marcos Rojo

Status: Out
Type of injury: Calf
Possible return date: January 9 (vs. Watford)

Marcos Rojo will again be unavailable against Villa due to a calf problem, but the Argentine, who has fallen out of favour at the club, could potentially be fit for the FA Cup clash with Watford on January 9.

United have no players suspended for this match.
