Manchester United could be missing nine first-team players for Sunday's Premier League clash with Liverpool at Old Trafford.

Manchester United could be without the services of nine first-team players for Sunday's Premier League clash with Liverpool at Old Trafford.

The Red Devils will be bidding to bounce back from their chaotic 4-3 defeat at Chelsea when they welcome Jurgen Klopp's title-challenging outfit.

Man United will definitely be without the services of left-backs Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia, while central defenders Lisandro Martinez and Victor Lindelof are out until the start of May due to calf and hamstring issues respectively.

Anthony Martial is back in individual training, with the Frenchman working his way back from a groin operation, but the attacker is still unavailable for selection.

Four more players are major doubts for the 20-time English champions, with Casemiro, Altay Bayindir, Jonny Evans and Raphael Varane also all potentially missing out.

Varane, Evans were forced off against Chelsea

Varane has been substituted at the interval of Man United's last two Premier League games with Brentford and Chelsea, being forced off against the latter on Thursday with an apparent hip issue.

Evans was Varane's replacement off the bench at Stamford Bridge, but the Northern Ireland international only lasted 21 minutes before being substituted.

The 36-year-old is also therefore a major doubt, with Willy Kambwala expected to feature alongside Harry Maguire in the middle of the defence against Liverpool.

The club's second-choice goalkeeper Bayindir is also a doubt with a muscular problem, which could mean that Tom Heaton is once again the back-up to number one Andre Onana.

Ten Hag could make two changes from Chelsea game

Casemiro will need to undergo a late fitness test, meanwhile, with head coach Erik ten Hag revealing that he was forced to substitute the experienced midfielder against Chelsea.

Ten Hag said that he 'had to take Casemiro off' in London, hinting at a potential injury problem.

Scott McTominay would be the favourite to come into central midfield alongside Kobbie Mainoo, should Casemiro be unavailable for selection against Klopp's team.

However, Marcus Rashford is again expected to start on the bench, as Antony, who replaced him in the starting side, put in a positive performance at Stamford Bridge.

Mason Mount has featured off the bench in Man United's last two matches after recovering from injury, but he is unlikely to be considered for a start on Sunday, with Kambwala and McTominay for Varane and Casemiro potentially the only two changes from the side that started last time out.
