Former Manchester United captain Rio Ferdinand criticises Aaron Wan-Bissaka for his part in Bournemouth's winning goal on Saturday afternoon.

Former Manchester United captain Rio Ferdinand has criticised Aaron Wan-Bissaka for his part in Bournemouth's winning goal in Saturday afternoon's Premier League clash at the Vitality Stadium.

United failed to build on their three successive away victories in all competitions as they suffered a 1-0 defeat at the Cherries courtesy of a first-half strike from Joshua King.

Wan-Bissaka was guilty of allowing the former Red Devils youngster to turn inside the penalty box, and Ferdinand has claimed that the summer arrival from Crystal Palace should have made it more difficult for the 27-year-old to free himself in a dangerous position.

"He has got to wait and be patient. You have got to be patient. In that area, you have almost got to slow the situation down in your own mind. You haven't got to rush into anything," Ferdinand told BT Sport.

"The forward has got his back to goal. What move is he going to make? Once he makes a move, you have to react and try to shut down that shot. What he did was, he went to have a nibble around one side, that made Josh King's mind up, he then rolled him, held him off, and put it in with a wonderful finish in the end."

United have dropped to 10th position in the Premier League table and are now seven points off the top four.
