Rio Ferdinand: 'Manchester United could regret Nemanja Vidic departure'

Rio Ferdinand admits that it is a shame Manchester United will be without Nemanja Vidic after this season.

Rio Ferdinand has admitted that Manchester United may regret watching Nemanja Vidic leave the club at the end of the season.

Vidic has already agreed to join Inter Milan when his contract expires in the summer, and Ferdinand believes that the Serbian could still go on to produce his best form over the next few years.

"Only time will tell if Man United regret allowing him to leave," the defender told the media. "Obviously Jaap Stam played on for quite a few years at a good level after he left Man United and the same thing could happen with Nemanja.

"He's a great player and it's a shame he had to leave."

Ferdinand is another player who could leave Old Trafford in the summer, despite insisting that he will not end his career yet.
