Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson admits that Rafael Benitez has performed well in his role as interim manager at Stamford Bridge.

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson believes that Rafael Benitez has performed better as Chelsea interim boss since receiving less pressure from the club's fans.

Benitez has been targeted by Chelsea fans for criticism since he was installed as the club's manager in November, but after guiding the Blues to the Europa League final, Ferguson believes that the supporters have eased towards the 52-year-old.

The 71-year-old told reporters: "You can't dispute the fact that he has done a good job over the last few weeks, and the key to it is probably because the fans have settled down a bit.

"They have left him alone, and it has left him to get on with his job."

The former Liverpool boss is expected to leave Stamford Bridge at the end of the season.
