Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson insists that his side did not deserve to be beaten by Liverpool in the FA Cup tie on Saturday afternoon.

Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has stated that his side "didn't deserve to be beaten" following their 2-1 FA Cup loss to Liverpool on Saturday afternoon.

Ferguson also insisted that both goals were down to team errors, but remained upbeat despite the loss.

"I don't know how we lost it. It was a really good performance by us, but I think in the context of what an FA Cup tie is like, that can happen," Ferguson told ITV.

When questioned on whether the goals were avoidable, Ferguson added: "Yes of course they were, we didn't do well, too many defenders around the goalkeeper for the first one and the second one was one of these lucky breaks you get but I'm pleased with my players.

"They performed very well, dominated the game, played really good football, didn't deserve to be beaten at all, in fact, we should have won the game maybe, we were the better team, but that's FA Cup football."

United resume domestic duties at home to Stoke on Tuesday evening.
