Eden Hazard wins the Ligue 1 Player of the Year award for the second season in a row.

Lille star Eden Hazard has been named Ligue 1's Player of the Year for the second consecutive season.

The Belgian, coveted by both Manchester City and Manchester United, has scored 17 goals and made 15 assists in 37 games this season and could add to his total in Les Dogues' final game against Nancy on Sunday.

The 21-year-old beat off competition from Paris Saint-Germain's winger Nene and Montpellier HSC's dynamic duo Olivier Giroud and Younes Belhanda to win the award.

Hazard said that he is leaving Lille on a "good note" but regrets that he was unable to help his team to retain their Ligue 1 title.

"Is this my best season? In terms of stats, yes," said Hazard. "But last season really wasn't bad as we won the double.

"I'm leaving French football on a good note individually but I would have preferred team success. That said, our goal was to qualify for the Champions League and we've done that."

The £35m-rated winger has yet to make a decision on who he will be joining next season.
