Roy Keane: 'I'll never reconcile with Alex Ferguson'

Roy Keane says that he is unlikely to ever reconcile with his old Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson.

Roy Keane has said that he is unlikely to reconcile with his old Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson.

The pair had a much-publicised bust-up when the veteran midfielder reacted angrily to Ferguson's decision to usher him out of Old Trafford in 2005.

Keane was given his marching orders after criticising some of his teammates on the club's official TV station.

Hostilities reignited this season when the Irishman questioned the attitude of some of United's current players, prompting a backlash from Ferguson.

In an interview with The Sun, Keane was asked whether he is ever likely to make up with his former coach. "I wouldn't have thought so, no. He's a busy man and I'm fairly busy," he responded.

"I said before I was disappointed the way I was treated at the end, nobody will change that. But that doesn't mean to say I'm bitter and twisted towards Man United. Far from it.

"The worst thing is that when you have been associated with a club you still have loyalty towards it no matter what way I finished and no matter what my relationship with the manager might be. I can go back there, I just wouldn't be comfortable so that's my choice."

Keane has been away from football since being sacked as manager of Ipswich Town in 2011.
