Jose Mourinho "knew that Zlatan Ibrahimovic would score" in Manchester United's meeting with Swansea City, as the Swedish superstar bagged a brace in South Wales.

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has claimed that he was always confident Zlatan Ibrahimovic would end his scoring drought against Swansea City.

The Swedish striker ended his seven-game wait for a goal by bagging a brace in the Red Devils' comfortable 3-1 victory, taking him to the 400 barrier in terms of career goals.

It was also the 25,000th goal to be scored in the Premier League, which Mourinho says was the least his star striker - who will miss United's next outing due to suspension - deserved after putting in the performances but failing to be rewarded in recent weeks.

"I knew that Zlatan Ibrahimovic would score. It was always a question of time. But one thing is a striker who does not score and does nothing for the team," he told BBC Sport.

"He always does everything for the team. He will not play [United's next game] because of the yellow card but I did not see it, I don't comment on referees.

"Paul Pogba also played so well, even without the goal. But the team was organised in a way that with the players close to him - Wayne Rooney, Juan Mata, Michael Carrick and Marouane Fellaini - he was surrounded by quality and experience. So yes, he was really good but the team was good."

Ibrahimovic has featured for eight different clubs in six countries, including spells at both Milan clubs, Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain.
